Installation
How to Set Up IPTV on Any Device: Full Guide
On every device it is the same three steps: install a player, enter your Xtream Codes login or M3U URL, and wait for the line-up to load. Below is what you need before you start, then a guide for each device.
The process
It is always these three steps
The app name changes with the device, but the process is identical everywhere.
-
01
Install a player
Any app that accepts M3U or Xtream Codes. Each guide names the ones that work best on that platform and which ones charge a licence.
-
02
Enter your details
The server URL, username and password we send on WhatsApp. With Xtream Codes that is three fields; with M3U, a single address.
-
03
Wait for the first load
The app downloads the channels, the categories and the guide. A minute or two the first time, instant after that.
Before you start
Three things you need
None of them is special hardware.
Your credentials
A server URL, a username and a password. We send them on WhatsApp when your subscription is activated. Keep them private: they are the keys to your connections.
A compatible app
Anything that understands M3U or Xtream Codes. Each guide names the ones we see work most reliably on that particular platform.
A steady connection
15 Mbps sustained for HD and 25 for 4K, per simultaneous stream. Wired beats wireless whenever it is practical.
M3U or Xtream Codes: which should you use?
Both hand your subscription to the player app. An M3U URL is a single link holding the entire playlist, which the app downloads in full. Xtream Codes is an API login — a server URL, a username and a password — which lets the app load categories on demand and fetch the guide separately. Prefer Xtream Codes wherever your player supports it: it starts faster and keeps the guide current. Keep M3U for the apps that only accept a playlist file, such as iPlayTV on Apple TV or the Enigma2 plugins.
| Feature | M3U playlist | Xtream Codes |
|---|---|---|
| What you enter | One URL | URL, username and password |
| First load | Downloads the whole playlist | Loads categories on demand |
| Programme guide | XMLTV added separately | Included in the same login |
| On-demand library | Mixed in with the channels | In its own section |
| When to use it | Apple TV, Enigma2, VLC | Everything else |

Pick your device
Each guide names the app to install and what to type into each field.
Set up on Samsung and LG Smart TV
Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) sets do not allow apps from outside their own stores, so you use a player from the official store and load the playlist from the developer website using the television identifier.
10 min Moderate Open the guideSet up on Amazon Firestick and Fire TV
The Firestick is the cheapest way to turn any television into an IPTV receiver. It allows apps from outside the store, so you can use IPTV Smarters Pro or TiviMate directly with an Xtream Codes login.
8 min Easy Open the guideSet up on Android TV, phone and tablet
Android is the easiest platform: the apps are on Google Play, they accept an Xtream Codes login, and the whole setup takes about five minutes.
5 min Easy Open the guideSet up on iPhone and iPad
On iOS all you need is an App Store player that accepts Xtream Codes. Setup takes about five minutes, and you can send the picture to a television with AirPlay.
5 min Easy Open the guideSet up on Apple TV
On tvOS the IPTV players are paid, and most work from an M3U playlist rather than the Xtream API. Once the playlist is loaded, the navigation is the best of any platform.
7 min Moderate Open the guideSet up on Windows and Mac
On a computer there are two routes: VLC to confirm in thirty seconds that the credentials work, or IPTV Smarters Pro when you want the programme guide and the on-demand library too.
5 min Easy Open the guideSet up on MAG receivers
MAG boxes do not use a username and password. They use a portal: we register the box MAC address on the server and the receiver loads the line-up by itself at boot.
12 min Moderate Open the guideSet up on Enigma2 receivers
On Enigma2 the IPTV channels are added as another favourites bouquet, alongside the satellite ones. You need web or SSH access to the box, and this is the most technical setup of the lot.
15 min Advanced Open the guideIf something goes wrong
The three errors we see most
Almost every failed install is one of these three things.
The app rejects my login
Check the server URL includes the port if it has one (for example http://server.com:8080) and type the username and password by hand rather than pasting them: a trailing space is the single most common cause. If it still fails, message us and we will confirm the line is active from our side.
The channel list is empty after I log in
The first load pulls the entire line-up and on older hardware that can take two or three minutes. Let it finish rather than restarting the app. If it is still empty after five minutes, force-close the app and reopen it.
Channels play but the guide is blank
The guide (EPG) is fetched separately from the channels and fills in afterwards. Force a guide refresh in the player settings and check the app time zone matches your own: a wrong time zone is what produces a guide that is correct but offset by hours.
Can I install it on several devices?
Yes, on as many as you like, with the same credentials. The limit is how many play at the same time, which is the connection count on your plan. Set it up on the living room television, the bedroom one and your phone without any problem.
Do I need a VPN?
We do not require one for the service to work. Some internet providers throttle or block third-party streaming traffic, and a VPN solves that where it happens, but it adds latency and can cost you quality. Try it without one first.
